family friend 82yrs old brought this old Remington take down pump over for me to clean up

NO model number anywhere

matching serial number on reciever and barrel  "798xxx"

there is a "U" stamped above the serial number on the bottom of the reciever

and the Remintong trade mark at the trigger group includes "UMC" (union metallic cartridge) ?

mechanically great, needed very little cleaning, bore was hardly dirty,

no visible rust, bluing faded on reciver , worn under the slide action

but excellent on the barrel

leather butt cover is dry rotted, but i did not remove it

padded cloth case with OEM wooden 3pc cleaning rod

case contained (2) compartments to keep sections from banging around together

just seeking to ID the age and model

First, You don't show enough of the gun. That leather butt cover is an add on as is the cleaning rod and the case..really,In my opinion, nothing to do with the gun. I suspect that you have a remington Model 10A made from 1907 to 1929 in 12,16 or 20 Ga with bbls of 26" to 32"  choke and bbl length are usually related..like shorter the barrel  the more open the choke...but you cvoud get the gun in any bbl length and choke combination as CUSTOMER SERVICE really meant something back then. Normally the gun has a plain walnut stock and a blue finish.Value of a Mod 10A: Exc=$375...VG=$300...GD=$250...Fr=$200 and pr=$100 However if this were a Model 10 TRENCH GUN  big bucks as exc=$15,000  this version has a  23" cyl bore bbl and a bayonet lug stock is pl walnut but has a long wood handguard over the top of the BBL. I have no serial number to DOM info  try www.bluebookinc.com

don';t know how i missed it

model 10A stamped on top of barrel

serial number traces it to 1920-21 production

Not mine, and he is picking it up this afternoon

i was just seeking info

last time he fired it was over 10yrs ago

he just wanted it cleaned up , as he no longer has any cleaning supplies

thanks for the reply

defintely NOT the trench gun

with butt cover removed i would place it at very good, but i'm no expert appraiser
