1911 Spring Replacement

1911 Spring Replacement

How often should I replace the recoil spring on my 1911 .45 Auto? I do quit a bit of shooting with it. I generally run through 100 rounds or so every couple of weeks and all of this is full power, factory or military ammo.

I would suggest you swap out the recoil spring every 2000 to 3000 rounds. Recoil springs are not that expensive, and the way I look at it, it’s a very economical and easy way to help prevent damage to a very expensive pistol frame.
