Not an early version of..it is a Saturday Night Special "ROHM" is the maker and "GMBH SONTHEIM/BRENZ (West germany)is where it was made they were marketed in this country(USA) in volume prior to the gun controla act of 1968 which(effectively) banned their import. There is little in the way of instructional material as these handguns were not intended to be repaired..many would not even function long enoght to empty the cylinder. That said, You have to know which version you have. The publication, Pistols of the World by Hogg/Weeks lists, under the "ROHM" label, about 2 dozen versions in several calibers from .22 rimfire .32 CF..39 S&W and .38 Special..most based on the RG-10 design, but there are "cowboy style loosely(look alikes) of the Colt SAA..ad in that this was a"primary' cheap revolver that was offered as a "hardware" gun(one where you could have any name you wanted stamped on it for placing a minimum order) You may be able to find something on the RG-10 with reproduction Publishing House..Cornell Publications (ask ABBY at www.cornellpubs.com) and one firm that I know of that buys broken versions and parts them out can be asked for parts or literture at firstname.lastname@example.org In a pinch the instructions for a S&W Model 10 can be used for the Rohm look alike based on that design. The S&W parts may install a bit differently and the parts may be shaped differently..but the purpose and function is basically the same..for those based on the Colt double action revolvers...use the instructions for the Colt Police Positve...for a single action use the Colt SAA instructions...The models cited were made in both rimfire(like your 22) or centerfire...but the design is the same as is the function.with the changes being related to firing pin postion on the hammer or in the frame. The value of one ot the Rohm's is not very much...someone that collect odd examples of firearms as related to the GCA-68 may pay a premium for one in all original condition with original box and papperwork..AND...you may find some on-line help at www.stevespages.com Pistols of the World or The Standard Catalog of Firearms will give you info on manufacturers and pictures of various models
Thanks so much. Doesn"t sound like it is worth the effort as it has no special meaning.
The Gun Digest Book of Modern Gun Values lists several of the RG series of handguns The Lesser model, the RG-10 isn't listed...this would be the lowest priced and quality of the line. Most of the RG's listed were those that were upgraded AFTER the enactment of the GCA-68 which instituted an points system for import..a minimal amount of points were required to allow for import..Over all size and quality of metal(early guns were mainly die cast zinc) but things like adjustable sights, target grips certain safety features etc earned points. The RG-14, made from 1978 to 86 is a 22 caliber double action revolver with a 3" bbl 5.5" OAL fixed sights, plastic grips and a blued finish about the only thing you can say about it of a positive nature is that is better than no gun if you find yourself in a situation of MUST have...In perfect new in the box condition it is valued at $65..in GOOD condition...$40 meaning..it doesn't take much search and buying of parts or paper to exceed the value of the gun. Some of the centerfire versions, as discribed are listed at $75 and the single actions cowboy look-a-like revolvers will draw around a $100..The top of the line late production model RG-88 is a $135 gun. You can Google the RG series of revolvers and thru the on-line pictures you can find on Gunbroker.com, make an ID and get a general idea of what th current retail market is. bear in mind that auction driven values often exceed real value. There are still several makers that are putting out a similar product today...none of which would I suggest that anyone who feels their life is at risk....buy and use to defend their or a lover ones life....many of these do not function properly when brand new in the box. If you brought it into my shop...even for a simple cleaning..I would decline the assignment...........
