I have ordered two barrels from you, the second on order number6553558.1 and the first on order 5603971. Both of them will only thread in about 1/4 turn and bind up with hand pressure. My gunsmith, who has 25 plus years experience, have checked diameter and thread pitch, .625 diameter and 20 pitch. My original barrel will thread in fine. Do I apply more pressure to get it in, chase the thread or what? Please advise.Thank you,
The Remington 12 octagon barrels(#717450), do have a .625" X 20TPI thread. We have not had any issues with these barrels. Is the barrel you are replacing a round barrel and what is the thread measurements.

The original is a round barrel, thread and pitch measure the same as the new one. The old one screws right in. My gunsmith has checked this. We can’t figure out why the new one just turns in 1/4 turn and gets tight. My gunsmith machines and builds rifle for long range shooting, says this is a new one for him. He’s been doing this for over 25 years.
If there are no burrs in the first few threads of the receiver or on the new octagon barrel and everything looks clean, then we are not sure what the problem could be. You are welcome to chase the threads, but then the barrel is altered and we could not accept for a return.
My gunsmith rechecked the thread pitch, it is NOT 20 threads per inch. I had this verified by another gunsmith, he came up with the same reading. I am returning this barrel, so you can please check it yourself. If I could send my receiver, I would.
We will let you know as soon as we receive the package. Thanks.
