I purchased C-Stock #985010A over the summer and used it for the first time over the weekend. I put 20 rounds through it when I noticed it had developed cracks in it. Is this covered by a warranty or will I need to repair it myself?
There should have been a relief gap between the rear of the receiver and the wood. Also if the guard screws were not tight enough the receiver could shift though the relief gap would have prevented this.
Regarding the Springfield stock #985010. This type of crack can happen when the guard the screws are overtightened casuing the receiver to shift and push too hard against the inletted step that the back of the receiver fits against. We do not offer warranties.
Please return the stock for a refund or exchange.
The receiver will not shift if the guard screws are tight.Because the stocks have no recoil lugs a Mausers do the receiver needs to fit tightly in the stock.I have been in this business sense the days when i could ship guns through the mail to anyone with just a signed statement of age and a money order 1965.
