I inherited a Savage Model 24, but some of the internal parts were broken. The selector switch was snapped in half and the 22 firing pin was broken. I ordered the parts from here & I am putting it back together, but there seems to be an issue. I think the selector switch may be out of spec/defective. Instead of being a 90 degree angle, it seems to be a larger angle. This is making the switch seem to depress the firing pin all the way in without the hammer installed. Since the selector switch was broke off on the gun when I got it, I don't have anything to compare it to other than photos online (and those look a bit closer to a 90 degree angle). The selector lever I ordered is this: Selector, .22 LR/.410 Ga., Old Style, New Reproduction SKU: 1566260 (https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/1566260) Here is a close up of the selector where is seems to be kind of bent and not a 90 degree angle Here is what it looks like installed in the down (.410) position: Here is what it looks like in the up (.22) position. Notice the firing pin pushed in. Image of the firing pin when the selector is in the up position
I am new to this gun, so I could be doing something wrong. But I am thinking I will just need to exchange this part for a new one. Anyone a bit more familiar with this gun that could tell me if this looks like a selector issue? or user error?
