Ammunition is currently collector grade item going for $20 and up per box. Aquila is rumored to be coming out with this soon. Otherwise collectors at gunshows is only venue I know of.

I read an article a while back about someone doing a conversion on these to a wildcat 5mm centerfire cartridge that was based on the .22 Hornet case. The conversion involved a rework of the bolt and rechambering I believe.

I just sold 4 boxes at the last gunshow for $75 each for like new Remington ammo. I'm a BIG buyer at $20 a box, hell, I'll be a big sport and pay $25 a box all day long.
Go to Guns America and there's usually a few guys with some ammo there or go to www.google.com and search 5mm Remington ammo.

A company called Certech has a centerfire conversion for the 5mm.
No rechambering. It requires a modified bolt (you send them yours) bolt and a custom firing pin.
They sell the cases, slugs and reloading equipment. The prices start to look reasonable after you price a few boxes of Remington originals (provided you have the reloading equipment and the Aquila rumor doesn't pan out).
