i have a cobra patriot and what is happening is that i have to pull the trigger 2-6 times most of the time untill the gun actually fires i have checked the round after each "missfire" there is no mark on the primer at all. any thoughts or ideas?
Cobra Patriot doesn't register in any of my reference tomes..cvould you staret with a little more info.like caliber, is it a revolver, single shot, auto loader etc "Cobra' was a named used by Colt and Patriot has been used by several makers both domestic and imported.......also is it a centerfire or a rimfire? A WAG here is that you have a Firing in issue other than broken the most common is oil, grease or solvent has set upm a hydraulic cushion..a FP and its tunnel should be dry as a liquid cannot be compressed, it only take s a little to restrict its(the FP) movement

I'm inclined the same as Zeke: Your problem is most likely related to the striker (firing pin), striker spring or the tunnel in the slide that houses such. This can get clogged up with burned powder residue and congealed lubricant and impede the movement of the striker. Disassemble, inspect and clean.

i took it apart and cleaned the F.P. and spring and the tunnel and there was nothing note worthy in there and after reassembly still does the same thing when trying to fire i have used several different types of ammunition for it. no the same ammo i put through my brothers High Point thats made right here in Ohio and also my Glock and they both fire fine. Now as i get to looking at the internal hammer, it really does not seem as though it is strong enough to contend with the firing pin spring. Meaning that i can see the there is no real pressure put onto the head of the firing pin to make it go forward far enough to strike the primer.

These cheap automatics they sell now days are not made to take to the range and shoot a lot. They are made of light weight metal and plastic and will not hold up to a lot of use. If you get one, take it out of the box and shoot maybe 50 rounds through it to see it functions OK. Clean it and put it away as your backup “gut gun”. If you want a gun to take to the range and shoot 20,000 to 30,000 round through it in your lifetime. Put out some real money like $700 or more for a quality gun that is all steel and has adjustable sights. Like a Browning, Smith & Wesson, Colt or a 1911 made buy one of the good manufacturers.

Sounds like you might have nailed the problem: The mainspring (hammer spring) of the internal hammer may have lost its temper and fails to whack the firing pin with sufficient force.
Yes, at this point jerk the manufacturer's chain and see what they are willing to do for you. Your Cobra probably isn't the first one to have this problem
