I have a Excam Inc. TA76 .22LR 6 shot revolver and like to get a 22mag cylinder for it. They seem hard to find.Heritage Manufacturing makes a Rough Rider SA that looks identicial to TA76 according to the schematics and they sell a 22mag cylinder.Does anybody know if they are interchangable? Both these companies have Fla. addresses. Just wandering if is the same company? Name Change? Same gun? Sent e-mail to Heritage with the interchangeability question. Waiting for a reply. Anybody have any input on this? Thanks, Buzzsaw
FWIW, The "TA" in your model designation stands for "Tanfoglio" a firearms manufacturer in Brescia, Italy..Excam(now out of buisness I believe) was an importer. The Name of the TA76 is Buffalo Scout and the last info I have on that is that it was now offered as the Buffalo Scout Model TA76M with the "M" indicating Magnum. This version comes with cylinders for the .22 LR and the .22 magnum and interchangible to the frame they cam with and not to any other frame..at least not on purpose. The last address I have is: TANARMI---------aka Fratelli Tanfoglio,Gardone Val Trompia Brescia,Italy However there is also a Giuseppe Tanfoglio and firearms made there use a GT prefix...TA is the Fratelli name. and the GT also has a "Buffalo Scout" the GT were in production from 1965 to 1970 and Fratelli after that..the early guns were(mostly) an FIE import Interghangable parts were not a deliberate feature and any part, regardless of where it is found will likely take some fitting. More so with a cylinder where there are several critical areas, including timing(the chamber lining up with the bore on each and every rotation) and the gap between the face of the cylinder and the rear end of the barrel..if you do not have the gunsmithing skills and tooling to do this, then you are looking at several hundred dollars of Gunsmith labor and shop time on a gun that is worth less than that as current book on a Buffalo Scout is less than $100...and NO the parts from the Heritage are not considered to be interchangable with your Excam. Looks like and a "clone" are two different things. You may find any parts our host doesn't have at www.vtigunparts.com or ash via an e-mail to armatt@aol.com..Frankly, your best bet(if there is such a thing with this gun) would be to rent a .22 mag chamber reamer and a set of headspace gauges from an outfit like www.4Dreamers.com but even then buying a current production firearm...even a heritage version would be a safer and cheaper option in the long run..IMHO,of course.......
