I have a very old H&A side by side. The extractor just barley pushes out a spent shell. Cannot remove spent shell even by finger nail. Was considering welding more steel onto the end of the extractor rod to push the spent shell out further, but it looks like that won't work, by not allowing the fore grip to lock into place. I simulated this using a small piece of wood.
So now it looks like there may be an extractor Spring missing? Cannot tell.
Hopkins & Allen made a few different side X side double barrels and most did not take an extractor spring. The step on the existing extractor may be worn. Extractors for any of the H&A versions are not available.
