Do we get a prize if we guess right? Sears used the Ranger brand for a while, and our host's
cross reference shows a 101.12 to be a Stevens 39. The 39 is a bolt action shotgun, is yours?? Parts are too wide, did you order parts and they don't fit? did you ask Numrich on their parts forum? You do know this is the public form, Numrich is out host. All we can do is pass on the information we have. Sometimes our references and our memory are faulty. Our host has information we don't. and sometimes we have information they don't .

The Ranger aka "SEARS" Model 101.12 shows on our host cross reference chart as the Model 39. This is a bolt action shotgun that was made in .410 bore and was also marketed as the Stevens Models 39A,59A,59B & 59C. It has a tubular magazine that hangs under the barrel and has a deeper barrel groove to allow clearence in the stock. The Savage Model 30 on the other hand is a slide action shotgun that the company made is several series(different sub-models) with the Savage Model 30 series C & E being the ones made in .410 bore. The "other" Model 30's the D,E,F,H,T,J and the A,B and C takedown versions are all in the larger gauges..12 &20 with some being L/H Models)D,E,F,H and T are listed as R/H and L/H models). As for looking "to large" this is an illustrated parts breakdown that your looking at and NOT a to scale Blueprint and the parts shown are illustrated for sequence and to number and are not always to scale or even the same shape. As Hondo has stated. if you don't keep the facts you do have a secret..then a more precise and factual response may be forthcoming. If you have parts in stock or company policy questions..you ask an Employee and not the general public..Good luck in your search...Zeke

I have a 12gauge pump that says Ranger on one side of the receiver and an "engraving" of a ranger on horseback (maybe Hopalong Cassidy!). It was made by Browning.

That's nice!, but what has that to do with the question at hand? BTW, of the couple of hundred hardware guns listed on the Sears cross reference chart..there is not a single Browning made firearm shown and I would like to add any such data to my knowledge base. Also, the people who own the likeness of Hopalong Cassidy..that would be Willaim Boyd, have never licensed his name/likeness to be used by Sears on a firearm to my knowledge. So while your statement is quite general in nature, I would like to request that you list all the markings on the firearm,as they appear and where they appear. A "Hoppy" shotgun sold by Sears is a new one to me..I would like to add it to my notes on the firearms of Sears Roebuck and company! TIA Zeke

Jeff, the name Ranger was used on a number of firearms during the past hundred years or so, even on inexpensive handguns and import Belgium guns. The forum was going on the fact it has a Sears Model number ( 101.12 ).
