i bought a JC Higgins model 20 12 ga. on auction recently Sears Roebuck part number 583-56. It appeared pristine. There is no wear on the magazine tube and it is my guess that it had never been fired. it had the medium range chole tube installed I waned to replace it with a short range, analogous to IC chole tube to shoot skeet. i purchased one on order 7496245.1. The OD of the knurled section is the same dimension as the original equipment tube 1.255 but the outside dimension of base of the tube is about 0.020 inches larger than the inside diameter of the barrel extension and of course will not insert. Is it possible that there were several iterations and variants this model and there are different dimensions of the choke tubes Could I swap it out with another short range choke tube. Perhaps I'll be lucky.
