I recently acquired a Star semi-auto .... missing magazine, else looks almost new left side of slide identifies Star and S.A. cal. 9m/m38 looks like importer's name stamped above the trigger right side has serial number 1125xxx right side trigger guard has SPAIN stamped magazine well is tapered and stamped AS has magazine safety so will not fire unless magazine is inserted thus I am sunk until finding a magazine (or 2) what have I got and can you help me find a couple magazines? I am guessing 38 ACP, but will it handle 38 super? thanks much Rod
The Star Model AS is basically a Star Model A with a magazine safety. I believe the correct magazine is #1660220 for $52.09. These firearms shoot 9MM and .38 ACP., but not .38 Super.

The notch in the magazine is short of detent with the mag release by about the same distance as the distance needed for cartrige feeding (approx 1/8 in)
the lip on the magazine prevents full flush insertion by about the same distance stated above
I guess it is best to just return this rather than starting to file/grind
