History of Ruger
In the genealogy of firearms, Sturm Ruger is a relative newcomer. With the patent for his semi-auto .22 caliber pistol, financial backing from Alexander McCormic Sturm, and a head full of better ideas, Bill Ruger began a business that has become one of the most successful firearm manufacturing concerns in the world.
Ruger went on to develop both single and double action revolvers, black powder replicas, high power rifles, and of course, the famous Model 10/22 rifle, all at a price the average person could afford.
Good ideas and good marketing, along with competitive prices, have helped Sturm Ruger compete with the giants in the firearms industry. The company is still developing new products as well as improvements and variations on old ones. No longer the new kid on the block, Sturm Ruger now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with every other industry leader.
