How to identify the action style of the rifle?
To identify the action style of Winchester 70 Post 64, measure the distance between the center of the screw holes as shown with the red arrows in the image below:
You have a SHORT ACTION (SA) if the screw hole spacing is 7". Common SA calibers are
- .22-250 Rem
- .243 Win.
- .308 Win.
You have a LONG ACTION (LA) if the screw hole spacing is 7-5/5". Common LA calibers are:
- .270 Win.
- .30-06 Sprg
- 7mm Rem Mag
- .300 Win Mag
You have SUPER SHORT ACTION if the screw hole spacing is 6-33/8". Common super short action calibers are:
- .223 WSSM
- .243 WSSM
- .25 WSSM
